Appreciate the complete remapping of controls. Two things I think might improve things:
1. small animations of what things do in the shop like the red bucket being applied
2. click to move. seriously left click is already dig and right click is flag, why can't my little dude automove? just autopath to be able to mark/mine the square or autopath to a clicked uncovered location. it would be a huge QOL improvement and I don't see how it would hurt the experience if this was an option.
otherwise it's a nice little game, gj hope to see more
i know this wasnt the intent but i love this because it makes minesweeper accessible to me. i cannot tell you how many times ive lost a minesweeper game because ive had a weird muscle twitch thats made me click the wrong square! this avoids that isssue by just, requiring a little bit of a hold, and i love it!
really like it, but the progression is VEEERY slow. also wondering if there could be an upgrade to help find the other elevator. also just a general question: is there an actual end to the map? or is it constantly being generated
As an old skool minesweeper, I really enjoyed the idea, I think it's got a lot of potential. I have noticed some performance issues playing from the browser:
- The game freezes the first time I drill, not sure if it's the world generating right there, or loading the sound resource, but the lag is noticeable.
- After some restarts, the game becomes very laggy and requires reloading the page. It looks like memory buildup.
While I really enjoy this game two things I think are lacking. Dirt for one seems like a bit of waste of time and resources, especially since it's 0 dollars. I just don't see the point of it from a gameplay standpoint. Another thing is that it crashes a lot on my pc? I don't have this problem with any other itch.io game so I just find it odd.
I love the concept, I hope to see it evolve a lot further, definitely one of my top minesweeperlikes on the site!
Agreed with the point about dirt. Maybe if it was one dollar instead of zero, it might not be as much of a slog. Sure it's not much, but it's better than having a dry run and filling up your bag with worthless materials.
Great game! I kinda want the version of this game that only gives punishments more similar to curses or minor inconveniences. and has more gameplay, intended for one long run/world. with more mechanics and types of ores and complexity as the game moves on. but maybe all these suggestions are coming from my current minecraft phase.
Im really enjoying the game, i cant wait for more updates to come and more to be added. I did find a little village at one point which was really cool. But as for the game its just minesweeper with more things added on and its really fun.
Really fun and satisfying game, I could play this for hours. The core theme is genius and it works fabulously. It turns mining into fun and strategic. The world is immersive and makes you want to explore it. I hope this becomes a full game and gets more stuff added.
My main criticism is that resetting the world while keeping items on death doesn't make sense to me. It mostly feels bad but doesn't have enough consequence, where it should have been the opposite. There is little incentive to commit to the world and build carts when you know a single mistake can ruin it all, even though that's one of the most fun parts of the game.
Personally I think it would work better if the world remained forever but on death you lost your money and items and teleported back to the elevator. Would incentivize you enough to avoid mines at all cost without being frustrating in an otherwise fun and calm game.
Only thing i hate is the rails. They are pretty much essential, so its okay that the upgrade is expensive, but maybe make the rails themselves cheaper? I think rails should be saved between runs, buying them raising max rail amount, and if you die, it just "collects" the rails.
Controls feels clunky-sticky with both keyboard and mouse. Maybe more focus on mouse pointing would be great.
Took me about 5 hours of passive distracted play to get the excavator. The ores are rare and underpriced. The diagonal mine marking would be great, but again mostly mouse related.
The points of interest seem very scarse.
But love it. Just vibing. Hope to see more and probably gona buy it on steam.
Just a little bit more content. It can stay hard and grindy, but just more exploration and upgrades. Maybe ground or wall material hints or tells or something. Really excited for this one. Game of my dreams. You're in for gold here.
Like the concept. But rapidly, the progression is so frustrating, we don't clearly see the upgrade except we mining more quickly, but when I sew the insane amount of mining to have the upgrade, it completely ruin the fun. I dead, and never want to play it again..
That's so bad, because, except the boring, it's nice to play, with some improvement it can become a hit !
only complaint is that how do we get bars? also small sugestion is that the ores feel realy undervalued and the amount of running to dump dirt kinda removes some of the fun of mining minesweepe
Big fan of minesweeper. Nice little blend of incremental there. I'd love to see a larger playscreen or fullscreen mode (the viewbox is tiny!) and i've died around to many '4's I've mistaken for '1's cause the shape and color are almost identical
This was really cool! I'd love a full game of this! I would love a way to reach diagonals though. If not to mine it (fair enough) then at least mark them as a bomb. Maybe an item could mine at a distance? So we can clear those little areas that are surrounded by bombs? Or perhaps an item (expensive?) that lets us pass through a marked bomb without mining it to prevent impassable areas?
Just some ideas, but I'm looking forward to the full game. I've added it to my Steam wishlist!
the secondaary control shouldve been what shown at the start lol, im playing it with ankward hand position fir a while before realizing you can use zxc
Has "Find the elevator in every layer of the mine to go deeper" been implemented yet? I've played for a couple of hours and haven't found any different layers yet.
There is only one level so far, but you can already find the elevator, though it’s completely random, so I’m considering changing the way it is placed.
Fun game! Do the ores get better the deeper you go? I thought that at first, and then found a bunch of valuable ones near the start, though maybe that is just luck. If they don't they should, that would reward not blowing up.
Otherwise, I have a suggestion, could you either make menu and exit full screen be different buttons, or have a full screen button in a corner somewhere?
Finally, it would be less frustrating if rails could be retained when you blow up, even if you only keep half, or if they become more expensive, as they aren't very useful currently: due to the mines stopping the rails from being straight most of the time, they don't give that much of a speed increase, so it isn't really that useful.
Also you do keep the rails you have in your inventory after you explode.
And if the rails aren’t straight, they shouldn’t slow you down. If you keep holding the same direction button you pressed to start moving, you keep going at the same speed.
i'm a fan of both incremental and minesweeper games and after finishing the short demo I can say it was a fun play, butttttttt I wouldn't really call thgis an incremental game,,, you progress slowly I'd say and (unless I just got superb unlucky with the ores I've found?) the upgrades seem a bit too expensive early-on compared to what you can and usually find. I dunno that's my 5 cents i'm interested in what others think and what the project evolves into❤️
I particularly agree with you, the game is really nice but the cost of upgrades, together with now little money you gain... it really could improve on that part :) Also something I think it'd be nice (not sure about other people, though...) is not having to carry dirt. It just takes space and you "sell it" for 0$... it just slow us down
Very fun and great. Would hope to have mouse movement options so you could play the whole game with just the mouse.
Also, you might want to either invert the transparency slider or rename it to 'opacity' for it to make more sense.
And to add to those who have already said the same, the compass really feels like a feature you should have by default instead of being a purchaseable upgrade.
Ores should be more valuable the deeper you go, sometimes you get lucky & have something that costs a lot, sometimes it's bad ores and keep mining for hours with nothing.
Really clever blend of mechanics…I’m having a lot of fun! I do have one quality of life request that shouldn’t be too hard to pull off:
My old man self is playing in full screen mode, so every time I leave the cart menu using ESC the window shrinks back down and I have to open the options menu to get Fullscreen back. I even changed the keyboard config, but the only way to get out of that cart menu is to press ESC. Any chance I can get a “Return to game” button on the cart?
I want to like this game, but it's very difficult to play in the browser due to the only way to exit the shop being ESC, which also unfullscreens, and that keybind doesn't seem alterable.
Yep, multiple games have this issue, with the inventory this is solved because you can also press I to open and close the inventory, but with the shop it's annoying. So either add an X button or use a keyboard shortcut for that.
Some thoughts (and these are based on the demo, so it could be different with the steam version and I just don't know):
I feel like flagging should be able to be done from afar. It's very tedious to have to go up to each rock to do it.
I think the game might benefit from being able to zoom out, but that's just me.
I think there should be a save system if the map is truly infinite. What if I want to call it a day and come back later?
I played for an hour and while I could see the benefit of the rail system, I kept thinking (ok, but what am I working toward or what is my reward?) and I never found it. Other incremental games either give you some story or something that feels rewarding for having made it further (a scoreboard where you can track yourself, some wacky effects, fun power ups, etc.) , but from what I could tell, this wasn't giving that sort of reward.
And I agree with folks complaning about the legibility of some numbers like 4 and maybe 6. I wasn't sure what number I was seeing for a few of them.
I was also planning to add a way to do something like a zoom-out.
I understand that there is not much to do as of now, I’ll try to add some more interesting things that reward you for exploring more.
For what concerns the numbers, there is an option in the accessibility settings to change their color or make them more visible. Maybe the default value for the transparency should be higher?
I was debating whether I wanted to add the ability to save. I understand it would be very convenient if you want to play for longer, but eventually I want to add an integration with the Steam leaderboard and I don’t want players to be able to reload previous saves and get an infinite score on the leaderboard. One solution would be to delete the save file when it is reloaded, but it wouldn’t prevent people from saving a copy of it somewhere else, otherwise I could stop counting the score if you reloaded a save file, but it would be kinda disappointing to not be able to save your score.
You could put a maximum on play time for the scoreboard? Or only count for the initial play before any new loads? There's probably better ideas than that, though.
well, won't it be boring that is jus mining only itself? climb up ladder, should be a house you own, probably some farming but with minesweeper features as well, where you plant special seed on the mines, as day pass plant will consume the mines and give better rewards, or if seed plant on wrong tile, the plant will explode when harvest it.

Awesome game bro.
I'm so glad that zero spreading is a thing.

The click to move feature is a highly requested one, though it’ll have to come later, since it needs a little more work (with pathfinding and such).
i know this wasnt the intent but i love this because it makes minesweeper accessible to me. i cannot tell you how many times ive lost a minesweeper game because ive had a weird muscle twitch thats made me click the wrong square! this avoids that isssue by just, requiring a little bit of a hold, and i love it!
Very laggy and upgrade menu bugs out after you buy a upgrade
Essentially, this game drastically slows down minesweeper and then sells you upgrades that speed it up again. The puzzle element hasn't changed.
Funny that it works somehow.
really like it, but the progression is VEEERY slow. also wondering if there could be an upgrade to help find the other elevator.
also just a general question: is there an actual end to the map? or is it constantly being generated

menu music goes crazy with mice on venus or any minecraft music actually
game starts lagging more and more as time passes. Could be a memory leak. Despite that, its a lot of fun, great genre combination!

Nice game, relaxing.
The thing is, I lose concentration after 30 minutes and die.
I feel like it's a bit slow, dirt being 0$, without the ability to dump it anywhere, it clutter the inventory, and that's just anoying.

i love the fact people keep money between runs cuz otherwise it would be so enraging lol
i love this game due to it having a skill tree, and minesweeper. what other thing can you ask for.
well. you can ask for somethings, like faster progression and being able to place down more stuff (like bridges) in the early game.
other than that, 8.5 out of 10
I looove this game. 9,5/10 hits all my cravings

Is that under video settings in the options?
should be under accessibility settings where you can change the color of the 4 AND the opacity of the numbers.
personally i'd change the color of the number 4 to white since ik finding an 8 in these kinda games would be hella rare. (8 is also white)
its, already in there
Played and survived for nearly an hour without finding a means to descend. There are no subtle hints or anything, and the map is huge.
i found the old mine and turned out its not usable yet, so dw bout it
This was really cool!
I'd love a full game of this!

Also, I think the settings on this itchio page prevent embedded videos from working, so here's just a link:

There's an elevator, and it marks the end of the demo. It's a very large area!
its really boring
Then play something else?
Leaving negative comments without any constructive criticism is just mean so pointless to say. For example - WHAT do you find boring?
to bore:
1- to pierce with a turning or twisting movement of a tool;
e.g. bore a wooden post
2- to make by boring or digging away material;
e.g. bored a tunnel; use a drill to bore a hole through the board

Really good, there is a other new conceps Minesweeper game in itch.io more roguelik. Try to contact i'm your tow concept can make a really good game
Solid game, looking forward to the full version

I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I’ll make sure to balance upgrade prices and ore values as time goes by.
i played for an hour before blowing up and that is so annoying. i wish you could buy a shield or had three lifes or something like that

Compass pointing to the ladder, either given by default or as an upgrade. It gets easy to get lost as the mine expands.
That's a good idea, hope to see it gets more updates and more things to do.
